Author Title Rating Pairing Summary
Kerensa To Catch A Falling Starbuck NC-17 A/S Dedication: I want to thank my mother for her invaluable help with this story. She helps me even though she doesn't like slash stories.
Disclaimer: I don't own the boys, if I did my life would be a lot happier. Besides, if my characters look like the ones you watched then I was looking at the wrong series.
Summary: A hit to his self esteem, poison, and Sheba: When Starbuck falls, will anyone be there to catch him?
Note: This storyline will be continued.
Anna Taking Shield: Manual Dexterity NC17 A/S Rating Note: One scene may be considered a bit chanish, since I'm making the Caprican age of consent 18, and Apollo, for all his protestations that he's "nearly eighteen", is six months short of that when he and Joss do a bit more than make eyes at each other over a recumbent mummy. Ah - that's the wrapped in bandages variety, not someone's Mama.
DISCLAIMER : I acknowledge Universal's ownership without reservation. Trouble is that Universal just doesn't know how to treat 'em right, so I've granted them temporary refugee status.
OTHER WARNINGS : For this to make sense, you're better reading Taking Shield first (either the Apollo or the Starbuck version - or both, since they're quite different). Manual Dexterity is set around 10 sectars later, and gives some back history to why the skilful Shield Warrior is the same klutz who drops electronic devices all over Cylon base ships in Hand of God…
The story does jump around a bit - the narrative in the chapters isn’t always linear. Apart from Apollo's nightmare (held between *** to make it obvious that it was a nightmare, not just another sequencing jump), you won’t get any pointers to the un-linearity (is that even a word?). The story rather insisted on being written this way, and I think it becomes obvious as you read that you've jumped.
Usual stuff about British English and spelling.
Clunky Galactican terminology: yahrens = year, sectar = month, secton = week, centar= hour, centon = minute, micron = second. And imperial measures (miles and feet) because I was born so long ago that I can remember the introduction of metric measures and imperial comes more naturally to me. I'm not comfortable with kilometres. Mind you, it is easier to say a Cylon's two metres high than to say it's six foot six, so don't look to me for consistency.
The Shield Regiment is entirely mine, and had its genesis about five years ago when I first started writing BSG, in some very, very AU stuff which thankfully does not survive (Goodbye Mary Sue!). In this story, the Shield Regiment is the third arm of the services, the special forces.
There's a mention of Jacks - smugglers and pirates and people who generally have trouble obeying the law. Childhood memories are faulty things, but I think they were Andre Norton's invention, and I'm borrowing the concept with grateful thanks.
There's a reference to the Strategic Studies Institute (SSI), founded by Heidi. Here, it's not attached to the Academy, and the graduates usually slide into staff jobs back at HQ - in the Strategy Unit - where things are quiet and they almost never get shot at.
We know nothing about the back story of Apollo and Starbuck, so I'm letting the imagination loose - it doesn't alter canon, it just precedes it.
Set about 3 years before Saga of a Star World.
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS : Joss, Apollo's much older, very rich boyfriend; Rosie, (aka Shield Lieutenant Rosalyn), Apollo's lieutenant on the Shield Ship Hyperion; and Acer, a solium miner and ex-infantryman, who first appeared in Mapping - I liked him, and this is an alternate story for how he and Apollo met. Brief appearance by Infantry Lieutenant Grant, who's a regular inhabitant of my version of the BSG universe and a mention of Lt Chivers, the Hype's ensign.
SYNOPSIS - Apollo is MIA. Various people are sorry. Starbuck is very sorry.
THANKS to my Heidi for her patient beta-ing, and Syble for her continuing support and comments (and between you and me, I think she's a little in love with Joss) and to Goblin for lending me her rapscallion floozy - all I can say is that Apollo eventually makes good use of him.
Karen All Mixed Up R starts Ap/She, Ath/Boom, SB/Cass, Boj/Other, Omega/Other and ends up Ap/SB, Ath/Cass, Boom/She, Om/Boj, and a few minor romances along the way this isn't really new, but the ending has been heavily altered, so here it is again
Warning: het sex here, also a reasonable amount of Boxey. Referenced deaths (OC and those the show killed off only) but none depicted. Spoilers for last half of the season.
Summary: After the Pegasus is gone, even those who have someone aren't where they want to be
Val Even Now R A/S Disclaimer: I don’t own the guys. If I did they’d stay in bed as much as possible. I promise to put them back where I found them after I’m done with them.
Warning: None. No non-con, not even a whole lot of violence. A bit of blood and pain, but nothing really objectionable. The ending could be construed as *not* an HEA.
Summary: What happens when Starbuck and Apollo meet again several yahrens after Adama tried to bribe Starbuck to leave?
Sithkitten Confrontation New! R A/S Apollo finally cracks under pressure.
Sithkitten Flashpoint New! R A/S A difficult situation all around...
